This week sees the start of the European Tours Final Series events, which again kicks off in the Turkish golf region of Belek this year at the Carya Belek course designed by Thomson – five times Open Champion – Perrett and Lobb.

The course has only recently come online in the last couple of years but has already hosted several international tournaments. Weighing in at 7,000 metres – 7,655-yards – this classic heathland design offers naturally cultivated heather – courtesy of the nursery where nearly a million heather plants were grown – and rolling fairways that wind through natural pine, eucalyptus trees, and across undulating sand ridges.

The white sand bunkers and mixture of terrains offer a tough test of golf and there is a premium on being in the right part of the fairway to attack the flags.

I am away at the moment but here are my picks for this week


My tips to win:

There are not many players that I tip to become back-to-back winners but I did for Justin Rose 8/1 – with Ladbrokes – a few years ago and I believe he can win again this week.

It’s very rare that I tip three Englishman to win on the European Tour but with Tyrrell Hatton 12/1 – SportingBet – in a rich vain of form and with a Top 10 here last year I expect him to be in the thick of it this week.

The other Englishman and leader of the Race To Dubai is Tommy Fleetwood 22/1 – SportPesa – who could near enough wrap up the number one spot with a win this week. Tommy finished inside the Top 25 here last year and will be using that knowledge to cap a wonderful season off this week.

My each-way tips:

I tipped Bernd Wiesberger 30/1 – SportPesa – here last year and two rounds of 66 along the way see him finish inside the Top 5. Bernd has struggled to maintain his early season form, which he capped off by winning the Shenzhen International, but two Top 10s in his last four starts and coming back here should see him in confident mood again this week.

Peter Uihlein 35/1 – SportPesa – seems to enjoy teeing it up in Turkey and has two Top 11 finishes from his last two starts – not on this course. Uihlein should come into this week in buoyant mood after securing his PGA Tour playing card and a Top 5 finish at the weekend.

My outside tips:

It takes time for a player to settle back down after their maiden European Tour victory and that has been no different for Jordan Smith 125/1 – with UniBet – who a couple of weeks after that win had three missed cuts. He has started to settle back down and started well at last weeks WGC HSBC Champions event but slide back down the leaderboard. I think the lad has a lot of talent and I think he is now back on track.

Those looking for longer odds then take a look at Renato Paratore 250/1 – with StanJames – who after a horrendous few months and five missed cuts is starting to come back into form and had a Top 25 finish here last year.
