Located on the volcanic Jeju Island – which is south of South Korea’s and referred to as Korea’s Maui – The Club at Nine Bridges is a 7,196 yards, par 72 golf course, designed by Ronald Fream and David Dale which was completed in 2001 and is the perfect combination of a great golf course in a stunning setting.

The two nines wander through pine-clad rolling land at the foot of Mount Halla – South Korea’s tallest mountain. Parts of Jeju Island resemble Perthshire so the boost of the PR people that the design resembles a Scottish Highlands course rings true to a point, but the finishing and manicuring is more akin to an American style golf course.

Fream and Dale remit was that nature came first even during the initial developments of the design so the course works with nature and there has been minimal disruption to its surroundings. The course derives its name from the eight bridges built on the course, the ninth being a metaphor that connects the club to its members and guests.

My tips to win:

Like a lot of players from the Presidents Cup International team Jason Day 14/1 – with Coral – will have a lot to prove this week not only to his fans but also himself. 2017 has not been a great year for the Australian with no wins and only one runner-up and four other Top 10s from twenty starts. We are only two tournaments in on the 2017/18 wraparound season and I am sure Day will want to get a win to his name asap.

This will be the third week I will be sticking with Keegan Bradley 35/1 – with Bet365 – and his runner-up finish at the weekend has only cemented my feelings that he is not too far away from winning again. Normally I wouldn’t stick with a player who has just lost out because of the mental fatigue a player feels when in the heat of battle, but I feel Keegan will not stop pushing at that door this week.

My each-way tips

I think we got an insight into Daniel Berger 40/1 – with UniBet – mental approach to the game at The Presidents Cup a few weeks ago, I know some people found it unsavoury that he actually aired his views, but I have no problem with that mentality and I think it will stand him in good stead. Daniel certainly has the game to be competing at the top with his friends – Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler – and I feel he will be in the thick of it this week.

After his maiden PGA Tour win at the Zurich Classic Cameron Smith 45/1 – with PaddyPower – seemed to lose his way and missed the cut seven times from his next eleven starts. That win was achieved with his playing partner Jonas Blixt but there was a couple of Top 12s in that run of missed cuts, Cameron has a lot of ability and I feel his Top 5 finish at the CIMB Classic could be the start of a very good wraparound season for the Australian and I think he will be in the thick of it again this weekend.

There was some great signs that Thomas Pieters 55/1 – with Bet365 – could be getting back to the player we all know he can be last week and he may just be able to relax more out of the glare of the European Tour limelight. A lot has been piled on the shoulders of the young Belgium after a wonderful Ryder Cup debut. I think it's a solid plan to forget the Race To Dubai get out and play some tournaments around the globe and just get back to enjoying his golf and competing again and I feel he will that this week.

My outside tips:

Jeunghun Wang 125/1 – with PaddyPower – is already a winner on the European Tour this year and won back-to-back events last year again on the European Tour. Wang seems to enjoy the early and late season events and I think these are good odds for someone who is looking to start playing regularly on the PGA Tour and a win here will help him achieve that objective.

If you are looking for longer odds then Gavin Green 200/1 – with Coral – is worth taking a look at. Gavin won two weeks ago and also has two other runner-up finishes on the Asian Tour this year.
