The Royal Pines Championship Golf Course has played host to the Australian PGA Championship for the last four years and last year see a complete reconstruction of the first nine holes, which was undertaken by Graham Marsh.

Part of the redesign has seen the construction of several spectator mounds around the golf course giving elevated views of the course. The tournament course is a composite course, the gold has the flowing waters of the Nerang River and features both salt and fresh lakes with water coming into play on nine of the eighteen holes.

The green course is an oasis of emerald greens and hidden challenges. The final nine holes are a testing combination of deep bunkers with undulating greens and tight airways.

My tips to win:

Marc Leishman 7/1 – with Coral – finished the 2017 PGA Tour season in great style with a win and a Top 3 finish from his last three starts and being that this is Marc’s home PGA event I am sure he would love to add this to his collection of titles.

I am going to stick with Cameron Smith 9/1 – with Coral – who managed a Top 5 finish at last weeks Australian Open. Cameron has finished inside the Top 15 in this event the last three years and is in great form coming into this week.

Its hard not to pick a defending champion and this week Harold Varner lll 25/1 – with BetVictor – will be defending his title which he won the year after finishing runner-up, so it's a course that obviously suits his eye.

My each-way tips:

After his win at the UBS Hong Kong Open Wade Ormsby 40/1 – with StanJames – will be in a positive frame of mind this week and I am sure his runner-up finish in this event three years ago will only add to his already buoyant mood.

Another player I am going to stick with this week is Brett Rumford 45/1 – with SportingBet – Brett had his best finish in this event last year making the Top 5 and comes into this week on the back of a Top 15 finish in the Australian Open and I think he knows he can play a lot better golf and challenge here this week.

My outside tips:

Already a winner on the Australian PGA Tour this year Jason Norris 175/1 – with Bet365 – will come into this week with a lot more belief in his golf game after finishing inside the Top 15 at last weeks Australian Open and I think these are great odds in his current form.

For a those who like the long shot odds how about past champion Nathan Holman 400/1 – with StanJames – Nathan may not be in great form but turning up at a tournament and course where you have won before always seems to bring out the best in a player.
