The home of golf will see some of the best players in the world turn up to compete in this weeks Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. The players will be competing on the hollowed turf that is St Andrews, but also Carnoustie and Kingsbarns, three of the best courses in Fife. All three are in Golf Monthly’s Top 100 courses of Great Britain and Ireland, only Kingbarns is just outside the Top 10 at number eleven.

My tips to win:

I am going to be sticking with Tyrell Hatton 22/1 – with SportingBet – this week and he is also the defending champion of this event. Tyrell played some great golf for the first two days of the British Masters but let the tournament slide away on Saturday when firing a 71. This was Hatton’s second Top 10 in his last two starts and although I think his temper can get the better of him sometimes, he comes into this week in good form and will be looking to be a back-to-back Dunhill Links champion.

I have tipped Tommy Fleetwood 25/1 – with Bwin – to win this event several times as he seems to really enjoy playing here. Tommy has only been outside the Top 15 once in his professional career spanning six starts in the tournament and has a runner-up and two Top 5 finishes in that run. Its been a great year for Fleetwood with two wins and runner-up at the WGC Mexico Championship and Top 5 at the US Open, I am sure he will be looking to add to that impressive list this week.

Shooting four rounds in the 60s see Shane Lowry 20/1 – with Ladbrokes – finish inside the Top 10 at the weekends British Masters and he will be turning up in confident mood this week. Shane has not been outside the Top 20 in this event for the last four years, which includes sixth and third place finishes. Its not been a great year for the Irishman trying to make it on the PGA Tour, but being back on the European Tour and with his good friend Paul Dunne winning at the weekend should only add to his positive attitude this week.

My each-way tips

Martin Kaymer 40/1 – with PaddyPower – is a past champion here and also seems to enjoy playing in this event with his brother. It’s not been a great year for Martin with only the one Top 10 at the beginning of the year and if he wants to make the Ryder Cup team he really needs to start challenging again. Apart from his win Kaymer has had two other Top 10 finishes here since he lifted the Dunhill links trophy and after a Top 20 finish at the weekend he will be looking to take those positive vibes into this week.

This was a tough pick between Richie Ramsay 50/1 – with Coral – and Ross Fisher 50/1 – with Ladbrokes – but I am going to go with the local lad mainly because he has a better record over the last couple of weeks – two Top 10s from his last four starts – than the Englishman.

My outside tips

There are a couple of good outside bets this week first up is Joakim Lagergren 100/1 – with BetBright – who has two Top 5s here in his last two starts in this event and Florian Fritsch 125/1 – with Bet365 – who has two Top 20s in his last two starts here and comes into this week on the back of a Top 5 at last weeks British Masters.
