The FedEx Cup moves on to the TPC club in Norton, Massachusetts, which is about 25 miles south of Boston. Originally designed by Arnold Palmer and built in 2003, the course was re-designed by Gil Hanse and Brad Faxon.

Gil Hanse of Hanse Golf Course Design is known as one of the best traditional golf course designers in the United States and along with Brad Faxon was commissioned to undertake a re-design with the remit to make the course blend in more naturally with its New England surroundings.

Gil Hanse spent a year in Great Britain studying the earliest examples of golf course architecture and interned with Hawtree and Son, one of the oldest golf course architectural firms in the world. The influence of Hawtree and Son can be seen in Gil Hanse work, preserving and protecting the integrity of the land, maximizing the natural characteristics of the terrain and minimizing human impact on the landscape during construction.

Hanse became only the third American architect to build a course in Scotland when he created Craighead Golf Links, which opened in 1998. Ron Whitten, Editor of Golf Course Architecture said, “This was a refinement and enhancement of a course whose basic structure was sound, not a total renovation or wholesale replacement.”

My tips to win

It is hard not to tip Jason Day 13/2 – with Ladbrokes – in his current form he just looks untouchable, and coming to a course where he has not been outside of the Top 15 since 2009 – he didn’t play in the event in 2012 – he will be licking his lips at trying to make it three wins on the bounce and that 63, 62 finish at last week's Barclays means the Australian is walking on water at the moment.

One player who tried to keep pace with Day was Henrik Stenson 16/1 – with Bet365 – another player who likes the TPC Boston track and who won this event two years ago firing a second round 63 along the way. Henrik will be pleased the way he has come back into form in time for the Tour Championship play-off and with his record here I expect to see him challenging again this week.

I was surprised to see Zach Johnson 40/1 – with Bet365 – this far down the betting odds, not only is his confidence high after winning his second major championship at The Open, he also comes into this week on the back of a Top 5 at the Barclays to a course where he has had some solid Top 20 finishes. Zach has shot a 63 round this track and has also finished 67, 66 a couple of years ago and in his current form I think he is capable of putting four very good rounds together here and making a challenge come Sunday.

My each-way tip:

I am going to stick with Brand Snedeker 66/1 – BetVictor – and I must admit I was surprised to see him miss the cut at the weekend, I am hoping he can put the last couple of weeks aside and get back to the golf he was playing a month or so ago when he had four Top 10 finishes on the spin. The reason why I am sticking with Brandt this week is because he is coming back to a track where he has had three Top 10 finishes on the bounce and is another player who has shot, 64s and 65s around the TPC Boston course.

My outside tips:

The reason why I have only given one each-way tip is because there are a whole load of great outside tips this week, and it's hard to say which is the better bet but at the odds they are offering you could just go 50p each-way on the lot. Webb Simpson 80/1 – with BetVictor – is a past winner and had another Top 10 finish last year. Jason Dufner 100/1 – with BetVictor – looks like he has started to get his mind back on golf. He also has a runner-up finish here and several Top 20 finishes. Chris Kirk 150/1 – with Bet365 – is the defending champion and was in the Top 20 the year before, and finally Keegan Bradley 125/1 with 888Sport – who has not been outside the Top 16 in the last three years. If you wanted me to plummet for one it would be Webb Simpson because of his final round 66 last week which sees him coming into this week with plenty of confidence in his golf game.
