Firstly let me congratulate Jason Day not only on a great win and his first of many major championships, but I think every golf fan on the planet wanted to see you win, it couldn't have gone to a nicer fella. Hopefully the other fans favourite, Sergio Garcia can finally nail a major next year.

The regular tour heads to Greensboro North Carolina and it has a feeling of “After the Lord Majors show” now all the major championships are completed, but I am sure once the tournament gets underway, we will have some great golf, and what a course to be playing on.

Donald Ross originally designed Sedgefield Country Club back in 1926 the track was redesigned by Kris Spence in 2007. The 7,130 yard par 70 layout has a reputation for low scoring, which should make for an exciting tournament.

My tips to win

Brooks Koepka 16/1 – Ladbrokes – should come into this week full of confidence after his final round 66 at the USPGA Championship took him into the Top 5. Brooks played in this event last year and although he didn’t play that well, he did finish up with a final round 64 and with his current run of six consecutive Top 20 finishes, four of those inside the Top 10, he is probably the man to beat this week.

Another player who has a good record on over the Sedgefield Country Club course is Brandt Snedeker 20/1 – Bet365 – who is a past champion here and has three other Top 10 finishes here since that win. It has not been a great season so far for Brandt, but he does seem to have found his game over the last couple of weeks with five Top 12 finishes from seven starts and finishing 68, 69 at last week's USPGA Championship should see him turn up in confident mood this week.

Bill Haas 30/1 – with Bet365 – has not been outside the Top 20 here in the last three years and had a runners-up finish here last year just losing out by one shot and although Sedgefield Country Club is a low scoring course, finishing the tournament 66, 66, 64 is great golf on any track. Bill has had a win earlier in the year and has ten Top 25 finishes from twenty starts. Although he didn’t do well at Whistling Straits, he did have a Top 5 two weeks before and made the Top 25 in the WGC Bridgestone Invitational and with his great record on this track I expect him to be challenging this week.

My each-way tips:

Another past champion here is Webb Simpson 30/1 – with BetFred – winning the event back in 2011. He has not been outside the Top 25 since that win and had a Top 5 here last year. Webb has had seven Top 25s this year from eighteen starts, with four of those being Top 10 finishes which includes his runners-up finish at the Wells Fargo Championship. Simpson didn’t have a great USPGA Championship, but he did make the cut and being back on a track he seems to enjoy I think we will see him in the thick of it again come Sunday.

I was surprised to see past champion Carl Pettersson 66/1 – with Coral – this far down the betting odds especially with his recent form with two Top 5 finishes from his last six starts. Admittedly he has had two missed cuts in that run, but he has also had another Top 15 in there. Pettersson seems to really enjoy this track and since his win back in 2008 he has had two Top 5 finishes and was inside the Top 20 again last year.

My outside tip:

Tim Clark 200/1 – with Ladbrokes– has had two Top 10 finishes here including the runners-up spot back in 2012 when he opened up with a 63 and followed that up with three consecutive rounds of 67. Tim also had a Top 25 finish here last year. Clark has missed four cuts out of his last five starts so he is not in good form coming into this week, but at these odds and his record on this track a 50p bet each-way could be a lot of fun.
