The PGA Tour moves to the famed Harry Colt and Charles Alison designed Seaside Course at the Sea Island resort. Tom Fazio updated the course back in 1999 and not long after it entered Golf Digest’s list of Top 100 Courses.

Tour golf is not the only claim to fame of the Sea Island resort, the G8 held one of its summits here back in 2004. Sea Island’s story is a fascinating look at America’s past. Howard Coffin founded Sea Island Investments back in 1926. Coffin was founder of the Hudson Motor Company and designed the original Hudson Motor Car, one of the first mass produced motorcars, which sold for less than $1000.

Coffin and his young cousin, A.W. Jones, worked to make Coffin’s dream of a seaside oasis come true. In late 1928, The Cloister at Sea Island was born, it was designed in the Spanish style of Palm Beach architect Addison Mizner and their first course to be built at Sea Island was the Walter Travis, Plantation Course. Situated on the historic Retreat Plantation on St. Simons Island, the course opened in the summer of 1927 and quickly gained popularity.

There are not many true links courses in North American but the Colt and Alison Seaside course design is one of the rare few and rightly holds a place in American golf course history and recently moved up 111 place to 76th in the worlds top 250 courses.

My tips to win:
I am going to stick with Matt Kuchar 14/1 – with SportingBet – even though he didn’t play that well in Mexico last week, and as I stated last week it's been an up and down year for Kuchar. It will be the first year since 2011 that Matt won’t win an event on the PGA Tour and with only a month of the year left to go time is running out for the Floridian. Kuchar has teed it up three times at the Sea Island Resort and has made the Top 25 every time, I think we may see him do more than just that this week.

Kevin Kisner's 22/1 – with Coral – best finish here came in last year's event when he finished inside the Top 5, where a final round 65 saw him move eight places up the leaderboard. Kevin should come into this week in a positive mood after his runners-up finish in the WGC HSBC Championship a couple of weeks ago. Kisner had three runners-up finishes last season and he will be looking to make that step up this year into the winner’s circle. Kevin has won on the Web.com tour but is still waiting for first victory on the full tour.

Bill Haas 33/1 – Ladbrokes – seems to start the wrap-around season well and then tail off mid-season only to start playing well again at the back-end of the year. Haas did have a runners-up finish in this tournament when it first became part of the tour calendar, but he hadn’t played in the event again until last year where he had a Top 25 finish, so it's obviously a course he enjoys playing and I expect him to be challenging this week.

My each-way tips:

It has not been a great start to the wrap-around season for Chris Kirk 55/1 – ToteSport – but coming back to play in an event that he defended his 2013 title with a Top 5 finish last year, should see the Georgian back to playing some of his best golf. Chris seems to be one of those players who go on good and bad runs and I think we could see the start of a good run coming up this week.

Brandon De Jonge 50/1 – with Bet365 – has a very good record over this track and has only been outside the Top 16 once since the tournament began, in that run he has two Top 5 finishes, one of those a runners-up last year where he lost out in the play-off. Brandon hasn’t pulled up any trees so far this year, but being back here I am sure will help lift his golf game.

My outside tip:

Not many players shoot three rounds of 66 on the spin, but that is what Heath Slocum 250/1 – with Bet365 – achieved on his way to winning the inaugural RSM Classic. He defended his title with a Top 20 finish where he also finished two years ago. The reason Heath comes in at these odds is because he missed sixteen cuts from twenty-two starts last year and has already missed the cut in his first tournament of the wrap-around season. Sea Island Resort is obviously a course he enjoys and at these odds, you never know and I think he could be worth a 50p each-way bet.
