Tour Pro Golf Clubs

East Lake Golf Club is the home course of legendary amateur golfer Bobby Jones and has held some major golf tournaments including the Ryder Cup in 1963 and the US Amateur in 2001 and is now the permanent home to the Tour Championship since 2005.

The club motto is “Golf with a Purpose” and working with the local community, all profits from the club, as well as charitable donations from the club’s corporate membership support the East Lake Foundation. Helping Atlanta's East Lake residents by giving them opportunities to build a better future through education for children and adults, affordable housing, job readiness and connections with the broader community.

Established in 1904, East Lake is the oldest golf course in Atlanta. Originally designed by Tom Bendelow, but completely reworked by Donald Ross in 1913. In 1994, Rees Jones restored Donald Ross' original golf course layout, which now measures 7,374 yards.

The signature hole at the 168-yard, par 3 6th plays from an elevated tee to a diagonally angled peninsula green. This green existed on the original Tom Bendelow course where it served as the green at the par 5 16th and was at the time, one of the first island greens in America.

My tips to win

It has been a while since I have put the name Rory McIlroy 6/1 – with PaddyPower – on one of my betting guides, but having first lost his world number one to Jordan Spieth 9/1 – with SportingBet – then Jason Day 7/2 – with PaddyPower – he will want to be claiming it back this weekend. I think with his Top 5 finish at last week's BMW Championship and that second round 65 shows he is not far away from being back to his best, if his putter gets going prepare for him to blitz the field.

One player who has played consistently over the FedEx Cup play-off this year has been the 2013 Tour Champion Henrik Stenson 10/1 – with Bet365 – who has two runners-up finishes and a Top 10. I am sure being back here on the East Lakes track will bring with it some positive memories to draw on.

My each-way tips:

I did tip Jim Furyk 40/1 – with BetVictor – last week only to see him pull out of the tournament and I am hoping that injury has settled down and he is able to play this week. Jim has a great record over the East Lakes Track with a win, two runners-up and three Top 10s since 2006 and with three Top 5 finishes from his last five tournaments, I think these are great odds for the Pennsylvanian.

My outside tip:

Another past winner here is Bill Haas 70/1 – with BetFred – who's final round 66 at last week's BMW Championship made me sit up and when I saw him at this price, I thought he was very good value as an outside tip. Bill seemed to lose his way after his early season win and has had several missed cuts, but he looks like he has started to put it together again and with that final round buzz - and coming back to East Lakes with its positive memories - I think he is worth a pound each-way this week.

As always good luck
