El Camaleon Golf Club is the centerpiece of the Mayakoba Resort, home to four separate properties along the Riviera Maya 42 miles from Cancun, Mexico. Designed by Greg Norman, the golf course measures 7,000 yards and opened for play in 2005. The 7th and 15th holes play right on the edge of the Caribbean Sea.

The course bends through three distinct landscapes -dense tropical jungles, mangrove forests, and oceanfront stretches of sand and is bisected by massive limestone canals. Greg Norman has even incorporated a cenote, an ancient underground cavern and river system into the center of the opening fairway.

My tips to win:

Strange to see Matt Kuchar 14/1 – with SportingBet – playing this week and not in last week's WGC event in China, but it's been a up and down year for the lad from Florida. It has been the first year since 2011 that Kuchar has not won an event on the PGA Tour and with only a month of the year left to go, this week represents a good chance to put that record straight.

Jason Bohn 25/1 – with BoyleSport – has started the wrap around season well with two Top 5 finishes from his three starts and currently sits in seventh position on the FedEx Cup rankings. I was surprised he didn’t make at least the Top 10 at last week's Sanderson Farms Championship especially after his runner-up finish last year. This week sees Jason coming back to another venue where he played well last year finishing in the Top 10 and I expect him to challenge this week.

Patton Kizzire 28/1 – with Coral – has got off to a flier with two Top 5 finishes from two starts this season. Patton has been playing on and off the Web.com tour since 2009. He finally came good last year with two wins, two runners-up, one third-place finish and twelve Top 10s from 23 starts, so you can see his start to the season was not totally unexpected. Whether he can maintain this form especially when the bigger names start teeing it up is up for conjecture, but I think we will see him in the thick of it again this week.

My each-way tips:

One player who is very familiar on the PGA Tour and especially at this event is Chris Stroud 40/1 – with Coral. Chris had three Top 5 finishes in this event on the bounce from 2011 and only shot one round over seventy during that run – he had four rounds of 66 or better. Stroud did make the Top 25 last year firing all four rounds in the 60s but just didn’t have that one low round that puts you right in the thick of it, but with a Top 10 already this season I expect him to be in confident mood this week.

Johnson Wagner 70/1 – with Bet365 – is a past champion here winning the event in 2011. Johnson had a good run of results at the back end of last season after missing four cuts on the spin. He then missed another two cuts but settled down in the FedEx cup play-offs but just played some average golf. A Top 10 at last week's Sanderson Farms Championship should see him coming back to a place he has won before in a positive frame of mind.

My outside tip:

I must admit I was surprised to see Smylie Kaufman 100/1 – with StanJames – this far down the betting odds, especially with a win and a Top 10 from his first three starts on the PGA Tour and he currently sits in forth place on the FedEx Cup rankings. Smylie only turned pro in 2014 and last year on the Web.com tour had a win, a runners-up, five top 10s, and seven Top 25s from 20 starts. I know he didn’t play well at last week's Sanderson Farms Championship but then not many players do after winning the week before, not even the season pros and at these odds I think he is worth a small punt.

As always good luck
