The European Tour moves to the Albatross golf resort in the Czech Republic for this week's Czech Masters, it's another new venue situated in the Vysoky Ujezd on the outskirts of Prague and not far from the international airport Ruzyne.

The course was designed by Keith Preston and opened for play in 2010 and hosted last year’s Prague Golf Masters, a Ladies European Tour event. The course had won much praise at this event for its condition, and it was indeed in superb nick when we played. For a tour venue, the opening holes are surprisingly gentle.

For example the 3rd is a par 3 without any hazards and has only a sloping green for defence. Indeed, there are no really fierce tests here until you get to the water-strewn final three holes at the course rated the best in the Czech Republic by Golf Digest.

My tips to win

I am sure Eddie Pepperell 20/1 – Ladbrokes – will have been practicing hard after his disappointing showing in the USPGA Championship, especially after doing so well to get there. But being back on a track where he had a Top 5 finish last year and closing out the tournament the way he did, firing a final round 67 that saw him move up the leaderboard twenty-seven places can only bring positive memories. Eddie is still waiting on his maiden European Tour win but with three Top 5s this year what better way than to bounce back here this week.

James Morrison 22/1 – with StanJames – is another player who was in great form going into the USPGA Championship but seemed to let the occasion get the better of him, but after a couple of weeks lay off and no doubt working on his golf game, I am sure the lad from Guildford will be raring to go. James already has a win and a runners-up finish along with eight other Top 25s this year and I am sure he will be looking to improve on his Top 15 finish here last year.

This is the first time I have tipped Matthew Fitzpatrick 28/1 – with StanJames – and his current form is hard to ignore with seven Top 25s from his last thirteen starts – three of those were Top 10s, with a runners-up finish in there as well. I knew it would take time for Matthew to settle, he always had the golf game to succeed, but it takes time to get attuned to the mental side, just look at Justin Rose with twenty-three missed cuts on the bounce. But the lad from Yorkshire has really adapted well since May, you can see the improvement and I am sure he will be in contention again this week. sure he will be in contention again this week.

My each-way tips:

Another player who comes into this week in confident mood is Bradley Dredge 33/1 – with Ladbrokes – who just missed out on making the runners-up slot by one shot at last week's Made In Denmark. Bradley was another player who opened up with a 66 last week, but coming back to an event where he had a runner-up finish last year, firing a 66 along the way, I think he will be in one of the final pairings come Sunday afternoon.

Rikard Karlberg 33/1 – with Ladbrokes – is in great form at the moment with three Top 15 finishes from his last four starts and is another player who played well in last weekend's Made In Denmark event, which followed his Top 10 in the European Masters. Rikard did make the Top 25 here last year and would have been disappointed with his final round 75 that saw him slide down the leaderboard and out of the Top 10 but I am sure he will want to put that right this year and in his current form, I think we will see him in the thick of it this week.

My outside tip:

Daniel Gaunt 100/1 – with StanJames – has been flitting between the Challenge and main European tours this year and trying to make the most of his invites, which he did at last weekend's Made In Denmark event where he took one of the runners-up places. Daniel has been playing steady if unspectacular golf this year, but his final round 66 at the weekend should give the lad from Melbourne, Australia plenty of confidence coming into this week.
