After last weeks WGC Mexico Championship its back to the regular PGA Tour schedule, which stays on the Florida swing and tees up at the Copperhead course on the Innisbrook Resort at Palm Harbor, Florida.

It’s always a good indicator of how good a course is when the players that compete on the tour say great things about the track. Paul Azinger, 2008 U.S. Ryder Cup Captain said, “Copperhead is the best course we play on Tour.” Two times US Open Champion Curtis Strange stated, “If I could only play one course the rest of my life, it would be Copperhead. It has that much character.”

Designed by Larry & Roger Packard in 1974 its 7.300 yards is characterised by its rolling terrain and tree lined fairways, The course makes the most of its natural lakes and ponds which are home to an abundant of wildlife including fox squirrels, bald eagles, alligators, blue herons, and many other types of water fowl.

My tips to win:

It feels like its been a disastrous start to the year for Jordan Spieth 9/1 – with BetFred – but if you actually go over his stats he has only been outside of the Top 20 once when he missed the cut at the Phoenix Open and he does have two Top 10 finishes. Jordan is a past champion of this event and had been inside the Top 20 on every one of his three starts here and I expect him to be in the thick of it come Sunday afternoon.

Sergio Garcia 16/1 – with Coral – will be looking to be right in the mix of an event before he defends his title at Augusta in just under a months time and a Top 10 at last weeks WGC event should give him plenty of confidence coming into this week. It has been a while since Sergio has played in this tournament but he does have three Top 16 finishes here one being a seventh place, so he does know the course and I do expect him to be in the mix this week.

A final round of 64 last year see Tony Finau 30/1 – with PaddyPower – storm up the leaderboard and into the Top 5, a round I am sure he will remember as he tees it up here this week. Tony already has two runner-up finishes on the wraparound tour and two other Top 10s from his nine starts and will be looking to add to his solitary PGA Tour win.

My each-way tips:

Four Top 20 finishes from seven starts – he had to withdraw from the RSM Classic – should see Webb Simpson 45/1 – with Bet365 – in buoyant mood this week. Two of those finishes where Top 5 places and he was in good shape at the RSM Classic but he wanted to be with his dad – and I am sure he will want to honour his father who was a great influence on his golf with a win this year. Webb has a runner-up finish here and three other Top 20s

I have tipped Jason Dufner 66/1 – with Ladbrokes – already this season and just feel he is on the verge of making it back into the winners circle. Everyone knows how good a long game he has, it’s his putting from inside 6 feet that is the problem and if he holes a couple of good early putts I can see him challenging this week. Jason has seven Top 25 finishes here but only one of them is a Top 10 he obviously enjoys the course he just needs that putter to catch fire.

My outside tip

Charles Howell 111 80/1 –with Bet365 – has five Top 20 finishes from his ten starts so far on the wraparound season, two of which are Top 6s. Charles seems to enjoy the Copperhead track and has a runner-up finish in this event and several other Top 15 finishes, including a fifth place and I feel these are great odds for the lad from Georgia.

Longer odds:

There are two past champions at very good odds this week Jim Furyk 160/1 – with Bet365 – who has a win and a runner-up here, while look Luke Donald 200/1 – with SportingBet – has a win and four other Top 6 finishes

As always good luck
