Designed by Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore, the plantation course at Kapalua Resort on Maui again plays host to this week's Sentry Tournament of Champions. It’s a top quality field as you would expect with all the competitors having won on last year's PGA Tour.

KJ Choi who shot a 62 at the 2003 Mercedes-Benz Championship holds the course record on the Plantation course. The golf course features several fantastic ocean views with steep uphill climbs and downhill approaches which gives the opportunity for some dramatic TV coverage. One hole to watch out for is the par-5 finishing hole which is a downhill 663-yard par 5.

My tips to win:

I think this is another big year for Dustin Johnson 15/2 – with BoyleSport – to see if he will go on to become a multiple major championship winner. Dustin worked diligently on his short game last winter and reaped the rewards for that work, now its time to see if he can join the games greatest golfers. Justin has a win and several Top 10 finishes here and I expect him to be the man to beat this week.

Another player that needs to take the next step is Rickie Fowler 15/2 – with SportingBet – who seems to have everything including a magical short game. I do think once he wins one major championship he will go on and win several, like he did after winning his first professional tournament. Rickie comes into this week in good form after winning the limited field Hero World Challenge.

My each-way tips:

I had Pat Perez 33/1 – with BoyleSport – last year as my outside tip here that paid off with him making the Top 5 and is probably one of the reasons why his odds have been slashed this year. Pat is another player who comes into this week in great form with a win and two Top 5s on the wraparound season and is currently in second place on the FedEx Cup rankings.

I tipped Cameron Smith 40/1 – with BetFred – last month to win the Australian PGA Championship which he duly went on to achieve, he also has two Top 5s from his two starts on the wraparound season and had another Top 5 at the Australian Open. Cameron went on a run of missed cuts after his win at the Classic of New Orleans but he has now put that run well and truly to bed and I think this could be a very good year for the Australian.

My outside tip:

The first time Billy Herschel 125/1 – with StanJames – teed it up here he managed a sixth place finish firing a final round 66, he came back the following year and didn’t break 70 but managed to just stay inside the Top 25. Billy didn’t end last year that well with several missed cuts, which came after his win and a couple of Top 5 finishes, but I think these are good odds for the Floridian and I feel he is worth a quid each-way punt.

As always good luck
