Rees Jones designed the Tournament course at the Golf Club of Houston, formally known as Redstone Golf Club, where during construction artifacts belonging to the Atakapa Indians were found all around the grounds. That history has been incorporated into the design of Redstone's logo with a reflection of a green over water within an Indian Arrowhead outline.

The 7,457 yard par-72 layout has been carved out of woodlands lush with oak, pine and cypress trees. The course also has wetlands that are filled with native plants and flowers. Past Shell Houston Open champions at the Golf Club of Houston include Fred Couples, Vijay Singh, Stuart Appleby, Adam Scott, Johnson Wagner and Paul Casey.

My tips to Win:

Having only teed it up twice on the PGA Tour so far this year Henrik Stenson 14/1 with BetStars has missed one cut and had a Top 5 finish, but he has also played three European Tour events and had two Top 10 finishes there. Henrik had a runner-up finish here a couple of years ago and although he missed the cut here last year, with a week to go before The Masters I expect him to be in the thick of it come Sunday.

One player that does enjoy being in contention or winning in the build up to a major is Phil Mickelson 14/1 with SportingBet who is a past champion of this event and has not been outside the Top 20 since winning in 2011. Phil has a win, a runner-up and two other Top 6 finishes from his last five starts.

Since Daniel Berger 28/1 with Bet365 came onto the PGA Tour in 2015 he has not been outside the Top 25 in this event and has had two Top 5 finishes in the last two years, the Golf Club of Houston obviously suits his eye and game. Daniel has had seven starts this year and has been inside the Top 15 four times and with his recent record here he will be looking to challenge this weekend.

My each-way tips:

This weeks defending champion is Russell Henley 33/1 with Bet365 who has not been outside the Top 10 in this event since 2014. It has been a strange year for Russell who missed two cuts on the spin after a Top 20 finish at the Tournament of Champions, but he has had two Top 25s since then. I am sure being back here will only inspire him again this week.

Charles Howell lll 50/1 with BetVictor should be in a positive frame of mind after making it out of the group stage in last weeks WGC Match Play, he would have liked to have gone deeper but I am sure the extra rest will see him well prepared for this weeks event. Charles has had two Top 7 finishes in his last four starts here and I feel he will do well again this week.

Outside tips:

There are a couple of good outside tips this week, first up is Keegan Bradley 70/1 with BetStars who I have felt all year is not to far from getting back to challenging again and he has had a couple of Top 15 finishes here in the last four years and JB Holmes 80/1 with BetBright who is a past champion here and also has a runner-up finish, started his first event of 2018 well but has been treading water since.

Longer odds:

Try Johnson Wagner 250/1 with BetStars who is not only a past champion but also has a runner-up finish in this event

As always good luck
