I have played The Centurion Club several times now and it has always been an enjoyable experience. The opening hole is a dogleg left where you have to land your ball between two avenues of pine trees with bunkers protecting the right hand side and a fairway that slopes left to right.
After the first few holes the Simon Gidman designed course opens out with indigenous fescue grasses being a feature and the rolling typography giving some stunning views across the Hertfordshire countryside. The greens are large and have many complexes to them so being in the right areas is extremely important.
There are three par 5s on the back nine and with this format they could prove pivotal and very exciting, especially the risk and reward 18th where water comes into play on the right hand side of the green, which has a very narrow opening.
Team-focused match play over two days
Teams will play Greensomes with each team selecting their best tee shot and playing the alternate shot thereafter.
On Saturday the teams will be split into four groups of four, similar to the UEFA Champions League football group stages with the top two teams from each group progress to the knockout stages.
The quarter and semi-finals and final will all be played on the Sunday, along with the 3rd/4th place play-off match.

Normally I would go for the winner, best each-way and outside tips, but the odds are not going to be great in this sixteen-team event. What I have tried to do Is pick the winner from each group to progress to the semi finals
My tips to Win:
Denmark 11/2 – with UniBet – Group A: Lucas Bjerregaard and Thorbjørn Olesen
France 13/2 – with SportingBet – Group C: Alexander Levy and Romain Wattel
South Africa 15/2 – with UniBet – Group D: George Coetzee and Haydn Porteous
South Korea 18/1 – with SportingBet – Group B: Jeunghun Wang and Soomin Lee
As always good luck
