The European Tour moves to India this week and tees up at the Arnold Palmer designed DLF G&CC and one of the highlights of the course is its Golden Eagles that have made this course their home, there is also 41 other varieties of birds.

The undulating course opened for play in 1999 and has water hazards on no less than seven holes, with aqua waiting for any stray shots on all of the final three holes. There is no let up when you get to the greens which have some very interesting complexes and will test the players skills with the flat stick this week.

In 2014 the club acquired some new land and commissioned Gary Player to design nine new holes and redesign nine of the existing Palmer course to come up with a new eighteen-hole layout, which opened for play in October 2015.

The course is designed around two lakes and an old quarry known as the Lake nine and the Quarry nine, it's a tough course from the tips at 7,654 yards featuring an island green on one of the par 3s, it will certainly test every part of your golf game.

My tips to win:

It was good to see Anirban Lahiri’s 9/1 – with BetFair – name on the entry list, so many players forget about playing their home tournament when they start playing on the PGA Tour and it’s to his credit that the lad from Pune is teeing it up here this week. Anirban has had Top 10 finishes on both the European and PGA Tours and was leading the CIMB Classic – the first tournament on the PGA Tours wraparound season – only to fire a final round 71 that see him slip down into third place. Anirban won this event two years ago and defended his title with a runner-up finish last year and although it is at a different venue this year he will be the man to beat this week.

I think I say this every time I tip Peter Uihlein 16/1 – with Bet365 – but it surely can’t be long before the ex Walker Cupper finally adds to his solitary Madeira Islands Open win. Peter had his third Top 10 finish of the year at the weekend and his final two rounds of 65, 66 should see him in buoyant mood this week.

I am going to stick with Jorge Campillo 28/1 – with PaddyPower – not only because of his runner-up finish at last weekends Tshwane Open but because Jorge also has a runner-up on this course when the Avantha Masters was last played here back in 2012 and he also had a Top 10 finish in this event last year. As I stated last week Campillo certainly has the game to win and I feel his more consistent golf this year should finally see him get his hands on that maiden European Tour trophy.

My each-way tips:

Another player that I have tipped and feel has the game to win several events on the European Tour is Paul Dunne 40/1 – with SportingBet – who should also turn up to this week in confident mood after he also shot final rounds of 65, 66 at the Tshwane Open last weekend. Paul has played some solid golf this year with a couple of Top 25s but last week was the first time he has broken into the Top 10 this season and I think he will be in the thick of it again this week.

Richie Ramsay 66/1 – with Ladbrokes – has been quietly going about his business and after a Top 15 finish last weekend he will be looking forward to teeing it up on a course he has played on before – with mix results, his best finish was a Top 15 firing under par in all four rounds. Ramsay’s last win on the European Tour was back in 2015 but he has won three times and will know how to get it over the line should he put himself in a position to do so come Sunday.

My outside tips:

There are a couple of good outside tips and strangely enough SSP Chawrasia 100/1 – with Coral – was first on my list of tips this week and I certainly didn’t expect him to be this far down the betting odds – so I would get a quid each-way on him sharpish before those odds change. SSP may not be in great form but not only is he the defending champion this week but he has also won twice over this track in the Indian Masters. Another past champion on this course is Jbe Kruger 90/1 – with BetFred – and he also had a Top 15 in this event last year.

As always good luck
