The European tour moves from Africa to the Abu Dhabi Golf Club in the UAE for the HSBC Golf Championship. This is the first of two Peter Harradine designed courses hosting the European Tour, the other being the Doha Golf Club which hosts the Qatar Masters next week.

The course weaves through undulating terrain and features palms, ornamental trees, shrubs, seven saltwater lakes, strategically placed bunkers and generous greens. The course opened for play in October 2000, where its iconic clubhouse in the shape of a falcon with outstretched wings underwent a refurbishment for last year’s event.

The course also had a bit of a make-over for the 2011 tournament, with new tees on the 8th and 10th, the 6th and 14th were extended taking the total yardage to a testing 7,590 yds, which will test one of the best fields to be assembled for a golf tournament so far this year.

My tips to win:

Bernd Wiesberger 12/1 – with Ladbrokes – should come into this week in confident form after making the Top 5 in Abu Dhabi last week. Bernd missed three cuts in his first four starts over the Doha Golf Club track, he then produced three rounds of 68 and a 66 to take third spot two years ago and followed that up last year with a Top 15 finish. Wiesberger finished last year with five Top 5 from seven starts I expect him to be in the thick of it again this week.

Another player who finished last year in scintillating form was Alex Noren 12/1 – with SportingBet – who had four wins from twelve starts he also had a runner-up and another Top 10 in that run of tournaments. Alex played in his first event of the year last week and knocked the rust off with a Top 15 finish in Abu Dhabi. Noren has several Top 25 finishes here with his best being a fourth place in 2013 and I think he could better that this week

I am going to stick with Rafa Cabrera-Bello 18/1 – with BetVictor – again this week – it’s surely only a matter of time before the Spaniard gets another win under his belt. Rafa started last weeks Abu Dhabi championship in great form but slowly slid out of contention – hopefully his final two rounds won’t put a dent in his confidence. Cabrera-Bello has a good record over the Doha course with two Top 3s in the last three years and hopefully being back here will see him back in a positive frame of mind.

My each-way tips:

Thorbjørn Olesen 33/1 – with Coral – is another player that should come in to this week in buoyant mood, after finishing just outside of the Top 25 in his first even of the year in Abu Dhabi. Thorbjørn – like Rafa – has a good record here over the last few years with two Top 3s in his last three starts – he was also joint runner-up last year. Olesen finished last season with a win in the Turkish Open and he will be looking to add to his win tally this week.

Dean Burmester 60/1 – with 32Red – has six wins on the Sunshine Tour and will be looking for his first win on the European Tour this week. This is Dean’s second year on the full tour and after starting his first season well on home soil the year just petered out. A year on and Dean hasn’t been outside the Top 17 in his first three starts and his Top 10 last week in Abu Dhabi should prove to himself he can play well outside of his home country. In his current vain of form I think these are good odds.

My outside tips:

There are two good outside bets this week and both have good record over the Doha track, first up is Bradley Dredge 80/1 – with PaddyPower – who has several good finishes here which include a couple of Top 5s one of which was last years forth place and comes into this week on the back of a Top 20 in Abu Dhabi. And Alejandro Canizares 80/1 – with BetFred – who has two Top 10 finishes here in the last three years.

As always good luck
