Designed by Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore, the plantation course at Kapalua Resort on Maui again plays host to this week's Hyundai Tournament of Champions. It’s a top quality field as you would expect with all the competitors having won on last year's PGA Tour.

KJ Choi who shot a 62 at the 2003 Mercedes-Benz Championship holds the course record on the Plantation course. The golf course features several fantastic ocean views with steep uphill climbs and downhill approaches which gives the opportunity for some dramatic TV coverage. One hole to watch out for is the par-5 finishing hole which is a downhill 663-yard par 5.

My tips to win:

Someone who will want to put last year behind him will be Dustin Johnson 8/1 – with Coral – the lad from South Carolina came so close to capturing his first major championship with three Top 10 finishes, this included his runners-up at the US Open. He was leading the Open Championship going into the weekend but only to completely capitulate. A new year a new start? I think those mental demons will be there in the majors but not in the weekly tournaments and so I expect Dustin to come out fighting this week.

Zach Johnson 22/1 – with StanJames – is a past champion here and he has also had a couple of Top 10 finishes. Zach had sixteen Top 25 finishes last year from twenty-five starts with ten of those falling in Top 10 positions, and of course he captured his second major championship win at the Open Championship so I think he will be in contention again this week.

My each-way tips:

Graeme McDowell 28/1 – with PaddyPower – seems to have got his mojo back and finished last year in great form. He had a couple of solid tournaments at the back end of the European Tour and then came back across the pond to win in Mexico and follow that up with a third place at The RSM Classic. McDowell has played in this event once before making the Top 5 with a final round 62, how he would love to repeat that score again this year and with the flat-stick looking hot again I wouldn’t put it past him.

One player who I tipped several times last year and looks to have started to sort out his temperament problems is Emiliano Grillo 40/1 – with Bet365 – who won his first PGA Tour title at the Frys.com Open. The Argentinian has always had the game to do well and is a wonderful putter, but has always let one bad shot wreck the rest of his card. That temper hasn’t gone completely it was evident when I followed him round at last year's Spanish Open, but it is something that he is working on and I am sure that win would have helped that process.

As always good luck
